This Harkness engagement sessions love story started at a friends bbq back in 2013. That would set the seen for Colleen and Matt to start dating and now they are building their life together a day at a time. When I asked about the proposal I kinda melted with pure excitement when I heard the story. Imagine your sitting in a nice restaurant in Dublin Ireland. Yes you read that correct they were on a trip to Dublin Ireland. This is so on my bucket list of places I want to visit in my lifetime. It was the very first night on their trip and Matt was treating Colleen to a super romantic fancy dinner at The Bank Restaurant. While eating dessert, they were talking about their future, and how excited they were for their move and and the future. That’s when Matt grabs the ring from his jacket pocket, gets down on 1 knee and proposes. I am a desert girl and I of course wanted to know what was for desert and hello what a romantic man Matt is. I don’t even think I would be able to eat my desert after that because I would be full of excitement so I hope he at least let Colleen eat a little before dropping to one knee. I can see it all over his face the way he looks at her that she is his everything. I can’t wait for their wedding to finally get here already. June seems so far away yet so close.

This very beautiful rustic wedding at The Simsbury Inn was nothing but spectacular. Megan and Paul even planned for us to stop in route from the church to the reception at this quiet little farm for portraits. Every who knows me can tell you if you put me on a farm I am going to have the biggest smile on my face and make magic. I may even ask you to walk into some random tall grass and have a little fun. I may ask you to twirl around and just kiss. Paul took it one step further and took his new bride over his shoulder. Ummmm I was totally in heaven when he did that. These two had so much fun and I could photograph them all over again. I am sad these two love birds moved away but I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them. It was an honor to be a part of their very special day. They made me feel like part of the family and not just another vendor at their wedding. I even cried and laughed with them during the speeches. Make sure you check out the sweetest little touches Megan put into her day with all the little details. She even had a custom bouquet made with strips from her grandmothers wedding dress attached. I thought it was so sweet the ring she had engraved for her mother and the special message she put on her dads handkerchief. I knew from the minute I walked into that bridal suite it was going to be a great day full of special moments to capture. This is another reason why I love what I do.

What a beautiful job Cloud 9 and Ashleigh's Garden did for Kara and Devon's wedding at The Lace Factory last month. When I walked in I was floored at all the little details. I mean hello I probably could have just stayed there all day taking photos of the tables thats how gorgeous they were. A big thanks to Eric for having me shoot this wedding with him and I truly can not wait to return for another wedding at The Lace Factory soon! Hands down one of my very favorite venues I've had the pleasure of shooting at this year. Their food is always out of this world delicious and they really now how to treat their guests and vendors which is a plus.
When I first met Devon that morning he was the sweetest ever and I could tell he was just a LITTLE nervous but knew he was ready to call Kara his wife. Let's just say Devon has some major style. Check out his awesome custom tux for the big day. I mean I must say he was one of the best dressed grooms I've photographed in the 5 years I've been shooting weddings.
Kara was top notch gorgeous when she spread for their first look. She had her hair up with beautiful delicate florals that matched her bouquet perfectly. Her off the shoulder lace covered dress was so flowing and fit her to a T. Just beautiful. And let me tell you about how awesome the bridesmaids dresses were. I just love when brides let the ladies choose a style that fits their personalities. They all had different dresses in the most beautiful pastels. I couldn't help but make sure to get a photo of each girl with their unique bouquets. I mean they were amazing...
I hope you enjoy this wedding and if you or a friend is planning a wedding at The Lace Factory give me a call. I am dying to shoot another wedding there soon!
Where to begin with this stunning wedding? Becca and Marty chose the perfect rustic barn for their romantic spring wedding. The Barns at Wesleyan Hills was decorated to perfection with every detail in its place. I was so honored to shoot this special wedding with my awesome friend Robyn from Robyn and Lou photography. We always have so much fun when shooting together. My day started with Marty and the guys and lets just say I knew form the moment I walked in that this was going to be a wedding filled with so much love. Marty was beaming with excitement and blushed every time someone mentioned his soon to be new wife. Poor Becca was sick on her wedding day but that didn't stop her from looking absolutely stunning in her gown. The Ct wedding group who hosts weddings for The Barns at Wesleyan hills did a fabulous job as always with their styling and day of coordinating. I am always happy to shoot a wedding at one of their venues, because lets face it they truly know how to put on an epic wedding.
So my favorite part of the day was when Becca walked out to the end of the isle to meet her father. I didn't know Becca before that day but after talking with her in her bridal sweet before the ceremony I just knew that moment needed to be captured in time. And surely it was magic seeing the look on her fathers face as his beautiful daughter walked down the long driveway to him. They picked a beautiful spot on the property to have their ceremony right in front of the weeping willows that blew in the wind. Let's just say it was magic. You can tell by the photos it was the perfect romantic setting. Just like I thought Marty cried and cried when his bride walked down the isle and he continued to cry during most of the ceremony especially when he said his vows. Both sets of parents just gleamed with huge smiles knowing their children were finally tying the knot. This was such and emotional day and I'm so thankful to have been a part of it. The first dance was even more amazing as the ceremony. The barn was decorated to perfection. I can't wait to be able to come back to this beautiful venue for another amazing wedding. So if your looking for the perfect romantic rustic wedding then you can't go wrong with The barns at Wesleyan Hills.
Where to begin with this beautiful wedding. I mean I LOVE shooting at Allen Hill Tree Farm so much that when Rachel with Rowanberry + Lavender called me to shoot this wedding with her I could not refuse. We couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day and the weather was perfect for this fall wedding at the farm. The day started off at The Hilton Garden Inn and all it took was one step through the front door and I knew right away the perfect spot to hang the dress. I literally fell in love with the chandeliers in the lobby and with the beautiful wood and glass backdrop who could go wrong. I love when I get to go back and fourth between the bride and groom especially when the rooms are on the same floor. Matt was already dressed when we arrived but I couldn't help but grabbed a few quick details of him and on to the bride I went to back up Rachel. Karen had a handkerchief from her grandmother and kept the box it came in for her wedding day to store it. How much love this family has just made me feel like I was part of the family that day even though I had literally only met them 5 minutes ago. I immediately knew right then and there why Rachel talked so highly of this couple and how much she loved this family. Matt made Karen the sweetest necklace that had the coordinates engraved of where they are getting married on both sides. How creative he is I swear. I mean he even made the log Arbor that they got married under at the Farm.
Then came time for Karen to get into her dress and well the tears quickly flowed. I found myself getting teary eyed behind the camera as I was shooting the moment. Rachel and I looked at each other and our hearts melted with excitement for Karen. Once Karen was dressed I quickly drove off to Allen Hill Farm to start the groomsmen photos and of course they are always a blast. The guys had a few fun ideas and even decided they would all climb to the top of the rock and take big group photo.
I think I witnessed one of the most emotional ceremonies of all my weddings ever shot that day. The crying the smiling and most of all the laughing. After exchanging their rings they did a rope ceremony where they tie hands together and the officiant tells a nice story. The best part of the whole ceremony was the officiant was a very close friend of the family which always makes it more personal to the couple.
Well finally it was party time for the guests and Rachel and I were off into the sunset with the happy newlyweds and of course we both were jumping for joy with the gorgeous sunset light we were so blessed to have that day. I think we probably took about 500 or more photos between the two of us. LOL If your looking for a gorgeous sunset for your wedding day then I highly recommend having your wedding at Allen Hill Tree Farm. Theres so many little hidden gems on that property for your wedding day photos. Also they always have the BEST caterers. On the Spot Catering is one of my very favorite caterers in the area so I was really excited to see them there. They are always so tentative to the bride and groom and amazing to fellow vendors. They feed us well too and in my eyes thats always a BONUS when your on your feet working all day to have a great working relationship with other vendors.
After formals where over it was time to get to the fun part of the day! The first dance was amazing and of course the father daughter dance was emotional. Aren't they always the most emotional part of the day? Karen's Made of Honor was brought to tears and you could see the joy in her mothers face. We had fun partying along with the guests and snapped a ton of amazing photos even out by the bon fire and during cat cutting. But until next time I say Live, Love, Laugh and be Merry!
congrats to the happy couple and Thanks again to Rachel for having me to shoot this beautiful wedding with her. I can't wait for our next adventure together!
After our first date was completely rained out I was so excited for the gorgeous light we had for Sarah and Jim's engagement session at Harkness Memorial State Park. I could not have asked for a better fall sunset filled with gorgeous colors and a beautiful couple. One thing I always love when my couples show up with a personal prop that mean so much to them. When Jim told me he brought his family guitar I jumped with excitement and knew just what I wanted to use for the ring shot. These two are naturals in front of the camera and it truly showed during their session. We had a blast together. This engagement session was filled with lots of laughter. Sarah & Jim are so in love and it really shows how much they care for each other. I can not wait to photograph their gorgeous fall wedding next September. If its any indication of how much they care for one another I can only imagine the day will be filled with so much laughter but also tears of joy.
I want to start by saying Brianne... girl you looked STUNNING!
It was such an honor to have been a part of such a fantastic day. Marc and Brianne were such a joy to work with, so much so that I feel maybe they need to write some sort of guide for future bride and grooms. It was smiles and laughter all day... That is what a wedding day should be!
Listening to the bride and her girls singing beautiful hems upstairs while they were getting ready was just magical. You could hear the beautiful voices all the way outside the farm house. The groom started to tear up with excitement that this special person was about to be his wife!
We couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day. With the fear of thunderstorms before the ceremony began, Brianne was not stressed one bit and had faith the skies would clear and surely they did right as the bride was about to walk down the isle!
None the less we were able to step outside the gorgeous farm house to grab some beautiful portraits with the horses. These two should be models I swear I could have photographed them all evening...
Once again, Thank you so much for having me a part of this special day! You two looked so happy and in love and it truly warmed my heart!
