The Comstock Covered Bridge in Colchester was the perfect setting for Ashley and AJ’s engagement session. When Ashley said she wanted something very rustic and woodsy I was all for it. I think my favorite part was that they brought Aj’s pride and joy old truck. I can’t wait to photograph this sweet couples wedding next fall because we had so much fun in the short time just walking around the bridge. I lost count how many times we had to stop because we were laughing so hard we snorted. Yup you read that correct. I was so excited that they chose me to be their photographer after shooting Ashley Matron of Honors wedding last year. Its the biggest form of flattery when your new brides come from your old brides. It means so much to me. Thank you Ashley and Aj for having a fun evening with me!

Lisa and Sachin are two the my favorite people I’m had the pleasure of meeting through the years. I had this deep connection with Lisa at our very first meeting as she stole my heart the minute she cried looking at my wood memory box. I knew right then and there she’s my kinda bride. Emotional and in LOVE with photos and the preservation of memories. I have this slight obsession with telling stories behind my photos even in my everyday life with my kids. Details Details and more Details… A favorite part of every wedding day for me is the small little details like the smallest stones on the brides shoe to the grooms custom cufflinks. The smiles they share and the tears they shed when the father hands off his beautiful daughter to her forever husband. I find it very therapeutic to be in these moments knowing I captured it for them to cherish for a life time. Lisa and Sachin had a rainy wedding day but that did not stop this couple one bit. As always I have umbrellas for my bridal parties incase and even with a sideways rain these fun loving friends did not complain once as we ran outside following the indoor ceremony to grab some fun photos under the umbrellas. We got so lucky and the rain clouds cleared long enough for Lisa and Sachin to get some romantic couples photos outside around the grounds of Bill Miller’s Castle before being whisked into their reception for the first dance. My secret favorite part was getting to try the different foods from Sachin culture and boy was it delicious. We ended the night with fun and dancing and even cigar rolling which turned into a cigar smoke portrait session in the dark. Thank you Lisa and Sachin for having me be your photographer. I LOVED every minute of your special day!

When I first met Gily at a bridal show she just had this glow about her. I knew she had a deep love for Justin after our conversation and I couldn’t wait to hear from her to discuss the wedding plans. When we picked to have their engagement session in down town Mystic I knew right were I wanted to start out. The boat docks by Red 66 are always so full of gorgeous light and then making our way over to the iconic bridge that had the words Mystic printed the light got even more gorgeous. Between the three of us I don’t think we stopped laughing at all the entire time. Gily really wanted a light house in the background so we headed over to stonington which is another fun scenic spot with old history in Connecticut. We played around the light house and made even more gorgeous memories for this sweet couple. They were total naturals in front of the camera and I can’t even believe their wedding is in 2 weeks. I am so beyond excited for them and I can not wait to have just as much fun at their wedding as we did doing this session.
This rib loving couple had such a unique wedding at Wrights Mill Farm. I think my favorite part was how they used wrench’s for the seating chart. I’ve never seen something so unique for a wedding before. I remember when I first met Jackie and Brian and they told me what they were looking forward to on the wedding day most was in Jackie’s own words “I can’t wait to eat ribs in my wedding dress” and yes she sure did. It was the cutest thing ever when she opened a special present from her relative that had custom rib bibs for both Jackie and Brian to wear. I could not stop giggling because I just love these two. The day did not go as planned and we had rain but you know what they took it like champs. Bri moved the ceremony under the pavilion and everything went on rain or shine. You would never know because the smiles these two had when they saw each other for the first time. It lit up the pavilion like the fourth of July. We got super lucky when the rain clouds cleared in time for portraits and so we took the horse drawn carriage to the pond and barn and had some fun. I even threw a behind the scenes photo of me doing my thing holding the flower girl and wearing my rain boots to get the job done. I kinda love it after a rain storm because the greens are always so vibrant and beautiful in photos. Jackie and Brian knew exactly what to do form our engagement session because I mean hello they are naturals in front of the camera. It also helps when you marry your best friend. It hits home that they met online dating because it just clarifies that yes online dating really works. You can meet your sole mate online just like these two.
Once the party got started it was game on all night long. We got a quick little rain shower and yes they decided lets go dancing in the rain. It was so cute they just twirled and danced the night away. Mark had the dance floor hopping for the rest of the night. Even the staff at Wrights Mill gets up and shows off some dance moves for the wobble. We ended the night of fun and laughter with a photo that Brian and Jackie asked for and it turned out epic just like they are.
I am so honored to be their photographer and love watching their love story grow day by day.

This Harkness engagement sessions love story started at a friends bbq back in 2013. That would set the seen for Colleen and Matt to start dating and now they are building their life together a day at a time. When I asked about the proposal I kinda melted with pure excitement when I heard the story. Imagine your sitting in a nice restaurant in Dublin Ireland. Yes you read that correct they were on a trip to Dublin Ireland. This is so on my bucket list of places I want to visit in my lifetime. It was the very first night on their trip and Matt was treating Colleen to a super romantic fancy dinner at The Bank Restaurant. While eating dessert, they were talking about their future, and how excited they were for their move and and the future. That’s when Matt grabs the ring from his jacket pocket, gets down on 1 knee and proposes. I am a desert girl and I of course wanted to know what was for desert and hello what a romantic man Matt is. I don’t even think I would be able to eat my desert after that because I would be full of excitement so I hope he at least let Colleen eat a little before dropping to one knee. I can see it all over his face the way he looks at her that she is his everything. I can’t wait for their wedding to finally get here already. June seems so far away yet so close.
Meggie and Brian met online which is kinda become the normal for so many couples now. I mean I am happy to say I’ve met my current boyfriend on Match dot com and it really does work.
I asked Meggie my usually questions and in her own words here’s their love story of how they met. Our first date was a quick dinner where Brian was a perfect gentleman albeit 30 minutes late... which is usually my MO (so together we stand no chance of being on time haha). We immediately scheduled a second date for a few days later, met early in the morning for a hike with the dogs, breakfast at a diner (my favorite, being a Jersey girl), then we were having such a good time we decided to go kayaking and grabbed pizza for dinner, and shared a sweet first kiss. This was ultimately a preview to many future weekends together enjoying the outdoors and searching for the best local pizza.
The best was the proposal was a complete surprise, everyone thought Brian would propose on our one year anniversary trip, he didn't, I was thinking Christmas, that would also turn out to be incorrect. Instead after a Labor Day picnic he asked me to come help him out in the living room and when I walked out he was down on one knee asking if I'd be his wife. Later I would find out how he had taken a vacation day to secretly go find the perfect ring and that he wanted to propose on our trip but the ring hadn't come in and his secret texts with the jeweler that he didn't want me to see, and then as soon as he got the ring, he just couldn't wait to ask. <3. Simple and sweet.
These two are so sweet and I can’t wait to share their gorgeous Yacht club wedding with you on the blog soon…
Harkness Memorial park is always the perfect backdrop for any type of session weather it be for a romantic couples session or even when you wanna throw in the brides adorable son for a few family photos. I’m a big harry potter fan myself so I couldn’t resist letting little man keep his glasses on and his magic wand in hand. Mike is truly a great man and I am so happy for Gabrielle and little man to have him in their lives. He walked into Gabrielle’s life and loves her for everything she has to offer. Best thing ever is he gets and immediate family. Who couldn’t ask for more love than that? He gets two for the price of one…
Stop back by my blog soon to see their beautiful wedding from this past fall at the Gorgeous Burr Mansion!!
This rustic garden themed wedding at Aria was simply a stunner. Kelsey and Joe did a beautiful job planning everything down to the finest details. The cutest honey bee glass jars were placed at every seat in the house for their guests to take home. The flowers lets talk flowers for a minute. I mean they were stunning. Of course the Beauty Entourage did a fabulous job with hair and make up as always. I just love working with them. Kelsey and Joe decided to share a first look on their wedding day and to be honest I adore first looks because they can have a small quiet moment just the two of them before all the hassle and bustle of the day begins. It also helps us knock out all the portraits pre ceremony and leaves them to enjoy their cocktail hour. The time came for the ceremony in the back garden area and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the light coming in over the trees. They really had someone looking over them on this day. Then came time to party and I mean duh I wouldn’t have expected any less than this epic choreographed first dance. I was in awwwww as I know the entire room was as well. With the twirls and dips I just loved every minute of it. I know these two were dancing the night away and into their honeymoon with the biggest smiles on their faces. Thanks Kelsey & Joe for choosing J.Parsons Photography to be part of your special day.

When I first met this sweet young couple I felt an instant connection with them. Their story about how they met in college when Rupak moved here all the way from Nepal. Who would think he would find the love of his life all the way across the world. The proposal was so sweet of course Kimberly being the intuitive woman she is kinda knew it was coming sooner rather than later. But the day approached and Rupak got Kimberly’s brother and sister-in-law in on the plan and they were supposed to be going to a corn maze together. Somehow, they ended up in Newport at the cliff walk instead and walked along for a while while. He stopped her, had a whole speech, got down on one knee… and well, you can figure out the rest. Such a magical memory for them to cherish. So when it came time for the engagement session we knew exactly where to have it. No place was going to be more perfect than the college grounds they met and fell in love on. We secretly wanted snow and guess what we got our wish and got snow the day before their planned session. My photographer heart was full of excitement and joy to share my afternoon with this sweet couple at WPI.
Come back and see their wedding coming to the blog soon!!
Sarah and James' wedding was nothing short of perfection. No detail was left out from the invitations to the matching bridesmaids hangers all the way to ending the night with a custom popcorn bar. Lorissa from Shuttle Meadow Country Club really took Sarah's vision and ran with the setup. I have to give her and her team so much credit for keeping the wedding running smooth. The wood was out of this world delicious. When Sarah told me she was going to have a live band in stead of a Dj I got so excited. I love when my couples have a live band. They really know how to keep the party going. Their day started off with a few tears but tons of smiles. James was a little nervous but I mean what groom doesn't have nerves before they get to see their beautiful bride walking down the isle. I just adore the little church they said their vows and exchanged their rings in. Once they shared their first kiss it was off the party. Bridal party photos were fun and then it was off to the gulf carts we went. I will never forget watching Sarah holding her huge bouquet going up and down the hills of the trails. The beautiful scenery overlooking the greens just made my heart smile. Sarah and James are naturals in front of the camera as I learned during our engagement session last fall. It was just so effortless taking photos of them. I literally could photograph them all day and night long. Shuttle Meadow Country Club is the perfect setting for some romantic images. My favorite part about their venue was that Sarah's parents also got married and had their reception at the club. It really made for such a special wedding memory. We even had fun recreating her parents favorite photo at the front door of the club. Of course we made a few memories of our own along the way.
I hope Sarah and James are enjoying their amazing honeymoon in the Mediterranean on a cruise. I can't wait to hear all about it when they return. Thank you again Sarah and James for allowing me and Elana to share in your gorgeous day!
