This rib loving couple had such a unique wedding at Wrights Mill Farm. I think my favorite part was how they used wrench’s for the seating chart. I’ve never seen something so unique for a wedding before. I remember when I first met Jackie and Brian and they told me what they were looking forward to on the wedding day most was in Jackie’s own words “I can’t wait to eat ribs in my wedding dress” and yes she sure did. It was the cutest thing ever when she opened a special present from her relative that had custom rib bibs for both Jackie and Brian to wear. I could not stop giggling because I just love these two. The day did not go as planned and we had rain but you know what they took it like champs. Bri moved the ceremony under the pavilion and everything went on rain or shine. You would never know because the smiles these two had when they saw each other for the first time. It lit up the pavilion like the fourth of July. We got super lucky when the rain clouds cleared in time for portraits and so we took the horse drawn carriage to the pond and barn and had some fun. I even threw a behind the scenes photo of me doing my thing holding the flower girl and wearing my rain boots to get the job done. I kinda love it after a rain storm because the greens are always so vibrant and beautiful in photos. Jackie and Brian knew exactly what to do form our engagement session because I mean hello they are naturals in front of the camera. It also helps when you marry your best friend. It hits home that they met online dating because it just clarifies that yes online dating really works. You can meet your sole mate online just like these two.
Once the party got started it was game on all night long. We got a quick little rain shower and yes they decided lets go dancing in the rain. It was so cute they just twirled and danced the night away. Mark had the dance floor hopping for the rest of the night. Even the staff at Wrights Mill gets up and shows off some dance moves for the wobble. We ended the night of fun and laughter with a photo that Brian and Jackie asked for and it turned out epic just like they are.
I am so honored to be their photographer and love watching their love story grow day by day.

This Harkness engagement sessions love story started at a friends bbq back in 2013. That would set the seen for Colleen and Matt to start dating and now they are building their life together a day at a time. When I asked about the proposal I kinda melted with pure excitement when I heard the story. Imagine your sitting in a nice restaurant in Dublin Ireland. Yes you read that correct they were on a trip to Dublin Ireland. This is so on my bucket list of places I want to visit in my lifetime. It was the very first night on their trip and Matt was treating Colleen to a super romantic fancy dinner at The Bank Restaurant. While eating dessert, they were talking about their future, and how excited they were for their move and and the future. That’s when Matt grabs the ring from his jacket pocket, gets down on 1 knee and proposes. I am a desert girl and I of course wanted to know what was for desert and hello what a romantic man Matt is. I don’t even think I would be able to eat my desert after that because I would be full of excitement so I hope he at least let Colleen eat a little before dropping to one knee. I can see it all over his face the way he looks at her that she is his everything. I can’t wait for their wedding to finally get here already. June seems so far away yet so close.
Sam and John’s wedding at The Overlook at Geer Tree Farm turned out to be a beautiful wedding despite having a rainy start to the day. The sun came out shinning brightly just in time for the ceremony to begin. When I arrived at the farm the girls where having fun and relaxing while waiting their turn for hair and make up. The guys arrived a little while later to my surprise no one knew how to tie a bow tie, so you tube it was. I can honestly say of all the wedding I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of I find it so cute that so many groomsmen don’t know how to tie a bow tie. It always makes for fun getting ready shots with the men. This was my first time having the pleasure of working at the beautiful Geer Tree Farm and I can’t wait to have the chance to go back again. Especially when one of my favorite caterers is on the job. I can honestly say I love working with Stacy from On the spot catering. She and her team always go above and beyond for every wedding. They were so accommodating for Sam and John that they literally waited until the last possible second to make the call to have the ceremony outside overlooking the beautiful tree farm instead of forcing everyone under the reception tent. Which I am so glad Sam let Stacy make the call because it turned out so beautiful. We know someone was looking over this couple on their wedding day. During our portraits we got the most gorgeous rainbow that came shinning in the camera and I was all giggly as always when I know I am creating magic in camera for my amazing couples. We ended the night with a lot of fun dancing and glow a glow stick dance party. John had the dj play a song in honor of his fellow servicemen which made for some great dancing to kick off the dance party. It was a pleasure being a part of this awesome couples big day and I can’t wait to see where their love story takes them.

Meggie and Brian met online which is kinda become the normal for so many couples now. I mean I am happy to say I’ve met my current boyfriend on Match dot com and it really does work.
I asked Meggie my usually questions and in her own words here’s their love story of how they met. Our first date was a quick dinner where Brian was a perfect gentleman albeit 30 minutes late... which is usually my MO (so together we stand no chance of being on time haha). We immediately scheduled a second date for a few days later, met early in the morning for a hike with the dogs, breakfast at a diner (my favorite, being a Jersey girl), then we were having such a good time we decided to go kayaking and grabbed pizza for dinner, and shared a sweet first kiss. This was ultimately a preview to many future weekends together enjoying the outdoors and searching for the best local pizza.
The best was the proposal was a complete surprise, everyone thought Brian would propose on our one year anniversary trip, he didn't, I was thinking Christmas, that would also turn out to be incorrect. Instead after a Labor Day picnic he asked me to come help him out in the living room and when I walked out he was down on one knee asking if I'd be his wife. Later I would find out how he had taken a vacation day to secretly go find the perfect ring and that he wanted to propose on our trip but the ring hadn't come in and his secret texts with the jeweler that he didn't want me to see, and then as soon as he got the ring, he just couldn't wait to ask. <3. Simple and sweet.
These two are so sweet and I can’t wait to share their gorgeous Yacht club wedding with you on the blog soon…
Abi, Marc and I had so much fun exploring Harkness during their engagement session. We had a beautiful sky that day. Even better was a very photogenic couple who I swear were naturals in front of the camera. I barely had to tell them what to do. I always love sending my couples a short questionnaire when they inquire with me because well I LOVE getting to know them so I don’t feel like a stranger when we meet for the first time.
When I asked Abi how these two met this was in her own words. We met late summer 2016 through a mutual friend who had been trying to set us up for awhile. She invited him on a "girl's" weekend up in NH to hike and hangout. Needless to say, he held his own with 3 overworked nurses whose topics of conversations tend to veer towards the gross side. And he was still interested after watching me struggle on the hike with a nauseous stomach!
Then I asked about the proposal and this is were it gets even better. In Abi’s own words “We often go for walks at a friend's farm close to home with our dog, Ziggy. There are beautiful woods, trails and ponds to choose from. One late morning, the sun had broken out after a night of snow. He suggested we go for a walk because he knows I love snow. I was excitedly snapping pictures of Ziggy in his new scarf for our holiday cards when he suggested we hike to the top of the big hill on the property. As we were walking up, he started asking me about what were my "top three" memories for 2017. I immediately chose our trip to Costa Rica (our second date!). Then I talked about a fireworks festival in Montreal he took me to (because he knows I love fireworks!). We had done so many things that year, I told him I had trouble picking a third and told him it was his turn. By this point, we were at the top of the hill and I was obliviously looking all around at the snow-filled panoramic view. He talked about Costa Rica and then a trip to Denver where we saw our favorite band at Red Rocks. And then when I turned toward him, he was going down on one knee with a ring in his hand saying "And I hope this will make your top 3..." And then I blacked out. He says there was swearing and crying and then finally a "yes!".
I don’t think I could have worded this any better than Abi did… I am kinda obsessed with their love story and hearing about their second date to Costa Rica was ummmm pretty amazing. But if you want to hear about that you must come back to see their wedding posted soon.
This very beautiful rustic wedding at The Simsbury Inn was nothing but spectacular. Megan and Paul even planned for us to stop in route from the church to the reception at this quiet little farm for portraits. Every who knows me can tell you if you put me on a farm I am going to have the biggest smile on my face and make magic. I may even ask you to walk into some random tall grass and have a little fun. I may ask you to twirl around and just kiss. Paul took it one step further and took his new bride over his shoulder. Ummmm I was totally in heaven when he did that. These two had so much fun and I could photograph them all over again. I am sad these two love birds moved away but I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them. It was an honor to be a part of their very special day. They made me feel like part of the family and not just another vendor at their wedding. I even cried and laughed with them during the speeches. Make sure you check out the sweetest little touches Megan put into her day with all the little details. She even had a custom bouquet made with strips from her grandmothers wedding dress attached. I thought it was so sweet the ring she had engraved for her mother and the special message she put on her dads handkerchief. I knew from the minute I walked into that bridal suite it was going to be a great day full of special moments to capture. This is another reason why I love what I do.

It’s always the little clients that steal my heart the most. I get all the feels when I get to snuggle a baby. I do miss when my kids were this small. When Sarah called for me to photograph her sweet baby girl I was so excited. This little one was such an angel the entire session. I am so happy to be offering studio newborn sessions at my Canterbury studio. If you or a friend want to capture this special time in your families life please give me a ring and lets get you scheduled.
Harkness Memorial park is always the perfect backdrop for any type of session weather it be for a romantic couples session or even when you wanna throw in the brides adorable son for a few family photos. I’m a big harry potter fan myself so I couldn’t resist letting little man keep his glasses on and his magic wand in hand. Mike is truly a great man and I am so happy for Gabrielle and little man to have him in their lives. He walked into Gabrielle’s life and loves her for everything she has to offer. Best thing ever is he gets and immediate family. Who couldn’t ask for more love than that? He gets two for the price of one…
Stop back by my blog soon to see their beautiful wedding from this past fall at the Gorgeous Burr Mansion!!
This rustic garden themed wedding at Aria was simply a stunner. Kelsey and Joe did a beautiful job planning everything down to the finest details. The cutest honey bee glass jars were placed at every seat in the house for their guests to take home. The flowers lets talk flowers for a minute. I mean they were stunning. Of course the Beauty Entourage did a fabulous job with hair and make up as always. I just love working with them. Kelsey and Joe decided to share a first look on their wedding day and to be honest I adore first looks because they can have a small quiet moment just the two of them before all the hassle and bustle of the day begins. It also helps us knock out all the portraits pre ceremony and leaves them to enjoy their cocktail hour. The time came for the ceremony in the back garden area and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the light coming in over the trees. They really had someone looking over them on this day. Then came time to party and I mean duh I wouldn’t have expected any less than this epic choreographed first dance. I was in awwwww as I know the entire room was as well. With the twirls and dips I just loved every minute of it. I know these two were dancing the night away and into their honeymoon with the biggest smiles on their faces. Thanks Kelsey & Joe for choosing J.Parsons Photography to be part of your special day.

Where do I even begin with how gorgeous this wedding at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills for Nicole and Jadian was. Every time I turned around the details where every where. Every single one of my brides knows I am kinda obsessed with every thing rustic and chic. This wedding did not disappoint one bit. I would have to say I love every wedding I have the pleasure to photograph every year but this one by far was my dream wedding to a T… From the beautiful hair styles the ladies had to the amazingly delicious food. I am always so excited to work with the CT Wedding Group at one of their properties because I just know the food is going to be spot on. I fell in love with these two when I first met them for their engagement session and I was so honored to be a part of their special day.

When Alicia told me her idea about having me come out to her friends private farm for their engagement session I swear I felt a little giddy inside. It’s like being a school girl in love all over again when it comes to me and beautiful rustic farms. So my favorite part was that we got to have fun with their 3 gorgeous dogs and with a little bit of me jumping around looking like a fool behind the camera and the dogs being very patient we were able to get the shot Alicia rally wanted. When the day came it was raining all day but we decided to power through it and make the best of the day. I always carry my white umbrellas with me for wedding days and figured lets play in the rain why not. I have to say Alicia and Michael were good sports and went with it. I am so happy with the gorgeous images we ended up getting. A little rain does not stop people in LOVE…
I can’t wait to celebrate with them on their big day this coming St. Patricks’s day. I just know it’s going to be a blast.
One of my favorite places to visit is Devil’s Hopyard and I was so excited when Kelsey and Joe picked this beautiful place for their engagement photos. Even better when they got out of the car in these ummmmm perfect outfits. The pink was popping off all the greenery and just made my job so easy. Any man who puts on pink for his lady is a keeper in my eyes. you would never guess who these two love birds met by how dressed up they are. Its kinda adorable if you ask me. Joe showed up to this upscale bar in sandals. Yes sandals… Well 3 years later they are getting married so it definitely made an impression on Kelsey for sure. The proposal was so sweet when they were visiting her sister in Florida. The first night of being there they went to siesta key beach and he surprised Kelsey with letters written in the sand with candles and rose petals asked her to marry him. I just love hearing the sweet proposal stories.
Coming soon to the blog is their gorgeous Aria wedding!! Don’t forget to come back and see soon…
One of my most favorite parts about living in Canterbury is the small town feel we have here. Josey found me on google and I was honored to come be a part of their special intimate backyard wedding. We had the best time walking their property along the creek after they said their I do’s. I think it was one of the least pressure wedding days I’ve ever had. I am starting to love intimate weddings. I should do more of them because just seeing these two so in love and not a care in the world about having the big wedding was so beautiful and inspiring. If I get married again its officially in my head I don’t want a big wedding I want something small and simple. All you need is LOVE and each other. Coz was the most gently man and you could see how much he cared for Josey. He was shaking with excitement to put that ring on her figure that he had a hard time getting it on. I can’t wait to get the call when they start having little ones… (Hint Hint I’m ready when you are to start having little ones!! LOL) I love babies just as much as weddings. Congratulations to this wonderful couple and here’s to many many happy years of marriage.
I maybe be biased but I am a little obsessed with this session at Devils Hopyard from this past spring. Erin and Lee nailed it from the perfect outfits to every pose. I mean they are our naturals in front of the camera. You will see more of that when I blog their wedding here soon. I was so excited when I saw her ring because this girl LOVES rings. It was simply beautiful and I must say Lee did a fabulous job picking it out. I just love how they met at the local bar that Erin worked. Lee would come in with his friends for nearly two years before he finally asked this beautiful lady out. I secretly think he had to work up the courage but she gladly excepted and now they get to spend the rest of their lives making memories. He took her out on the greater banks on vacation and during a moonlit stroll he wrapped his arms around her and whispered sweet words into her ear. Little did Erin know what was about to happen when she turned around and he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Its like a fairy tail and I am so honored to be their photographer and I get to share in their love story.
This family is not only a fellow wedding industry vendor but a close friend. I couldn't have been more excited and honored when asked to photograph their maternity and newborn portraits for their first baby. I mean hello look at this gorgeous momma to be. Victoria was stunning in this blue dress made by a fellow photographer and close friend Tracy. When you bribe dad to take off his shirt and trust your vision magic happens within the camera. I think I let out the biggest yelp of excitement when I knew what I was getting in camera was perfect and told the love story of these two in just a few simple photos. The passion in the way Wesley holds his wife is just pure love.
Now for little man (That’s his nickname) he was a little stinker on the day of his photos but we managed to love on him and get some really cute photos for mom and dad to cherish for a lifetime. Always remembering how little he was. It’s hard to believe how big he’s gotten since this session but I just love watching him grow whenever I can. He’s feisty and a spit fire like his mom. I can see it now with the different looks and grins that he is such a mommas boy.
Come back to see more of this cute family do to hit the blog soon!
When your couple tells you they want their engagement photos with their favorite sports team on it and they show up with your favorite teams jersey you grin ear to ear with excitement. I mean I didn’t think the session could get any better until mom brought out the most adorable dog ever… He was such a champ and it was like he knew he had to put on a show. I can’t lie I almost wanted to take the little guy home to my kids. Shannon, Andrew and I had so much fun exploring one of my favorite parks together. Harkness Memorial State Park has so many little secret hidden gems around the property that I can shoot there everyday and still manage to find a new fun spot to use. The lighting is always so gorgeous and this day was particularly one of my favorites with this beautiful warm glow we had. I am so excited and can’t wait for Shannon and Andrews wedding which just so happens to be in a short few months. The count down has begun…
When I first met this sweet young couple I felt an instant connection with them. Their story about how they met in college when Rupak moved here all the way from Nepal. Who would think he would find the love of his life all the way across the world. The proposal was so sweet of course Kimberly being the intuitive woman she is kinda knew it was coming sooner rather than later. But the day approached and Rupak got Kimberly’s brother and sister-in-law in on the plan and they were supposed to be going to a corn maze together. Somehow, they ended up in Newport at the cliff walk instead and walked along for a while while. He stopped her, had a whole speech, got down on one knee… and well, you can figure out the rest. Such a magical memory for them to cherish. So when it came time for the engagement session we knew exactly where to have it. No place was going to be more perfect than the college grounds they met and fell in love on. We secretly wanted snow and guess what we got our wish and got snow the day before their planned session. My photographer heart was full of excitement and joy to share my afternoon with this sweet couple at WPI.
Come back and see their wedding coming to the blog soon!!
Niki and Jason tied the knot at the very delicious David Burke Prime restaurant this winter and oh my gosh was it beautiful and simple but perfect. Their day began with getting ready up in the fox tower surrounded by loved ones. Lots of smiles and excitement for the evening ahead. Niki's room overlooked the reservation and you could see the mountains for miles. The perfectly clear blue sky and the light pouring into her room was simply beautiful. The simple elegant dress from the world famous Kleinfeld hung from hanger simply waiting for her special day. While her mom and future mother in law and even grannie helped her into her gown her sister put on the finishing touches. The moment Niki's brother walked into the room to see his beautiful sister in her gown was so touching. I probably could have cried myself because the smile on his face was priceless and then seeing Niki's face omg I kinda lost it inside a little. It brought me back to my wedding day when I saw my brother. Jason was so excited to see his beautiful bride to be that he cheated a little during their first look. Haha I loved how he turned his head way before the rest of his body just to catch a glimpse of his bride. After sharing an intimate moment together it was off to the restaurant to say their "I Do's". We walked through the casino with a few fun stops oolong the way. The ceremony was super emotional but still had lots of laughing. Onto the sisters speech well that just had a lot more tears and the night got even better with....
IT'S A GIRL!!!!!
Yup you read that right! Niki and Jason surprised their family at the wedding with a gender reveal cake and both moms screamed and jumped with excitement of the news tat they are having a grand daughter.
Thank you to David Burke Prime for letting us climb into the wine cellar and take some gorgeous night portraits for the couple because well they turned out amazing.
Save the date for this super fun loving couple. When Lisa had the idea of having their engagement photos at the same location as Sachin's proposal I got super excited and jumped at the chance. The light is always so amazing in down town Mystic in the winter and I just knew we would create magic. When Lisa showed up with matching coffee mugs that said Love Madly I got was in heaven and they even brought the beautiful sign I sent them with their soon to be new last name. when my brides get creative with their engagement sessions and even bringing the little things to make it their own just melts my heart. We laughed our butts off trying to stay warm with the wind over the water but they were good sports and you would never know how cold it was outside. Their love shined through and made it feel like it was 80 degrees that evening. I just love having fun with my couples and catching those little looks that they give each other when they don't think I am looking or taking a photo because those moments are my true favorite and I just get giddy inside when I catch those. I can't wait to photograph Lisa and Sachin's wedding this fall at the beautiful Bill Miller's Castle. These two are going to light up the night and I just know its going to be an absolute blast to be a part of. Thank you Lisa and Sachin for trusting me to be your photographer.
